The 17th edition of International Film Festival of Kerala commenced on 7th December 2012 at Thiruvananthapuram the capital city of Kerala, India. 14 films will be screened in the Competition Section and 7 films under Malayalam Cinema Now.........More..

Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, a Kerala Government Institution to promote cinema conducts International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) every year. A competition section for the films from Asian and African and Latin American countries is the highlight of the festival. The Golden Crow Pheasant Award with a cash prize INR 15 lakhs (approximate 30,000 US dollars) for the best feature film to be shared equally between the director and the producer.
Eminent Australian filmmaker Paul Cox is the Chairperson of the international jury to adjudge Suvarna Chakoram and Rajatha Chakoram awards. The members are Burkinabe film director Pierre Yamaego, Anne demi Geroe, Govind Nihlani and Dang Minh Nhat. The Netpac Jury includes Park Sung Ho, Tina Lokk and Jayantha Chandrasiri. Gyorgy Karpati, Narjes Torchani and Subrahmanyan Viswanath are the members of FIPRESCI Jury.
About ten thousand delegates representing more than 50 countries regularly attend IFFK. The participation is increasing yearly, which gives film producers amble oppurtunities to highlight their films.

A marketing section is active in IFFK for the past few years, helping participating film makers in marketing their films. Representative of many international film festivals are active in IFFK. The festival has a separate venue for the film makers to interact with these representatives and probable international buyers.

During IFFK-2011 Kerala State Chalachithra Academy along with the Indian Documentary Foundation has organized an event named "Triggerpitch" to promote documentaries. 6 documentaries were marketed during the event. This year's Trigger Pitch will be on 13th December at Hotel Residency Towers.
