Lino Brocka was an outstanding Filippino film director who is internationally reputed for his films about the Marcos’ dictatorship in Philippines. Lino who died in a car crash in 1991 left an indelible mark in the world cinema through his socially conscious films which explored the predicament of the marginalized and ignored sections of the Filipino society. His films are made during an oppressive regime and while his country was reeling under the misery of poverty.
