Aruna Vasudev, film critic-scholar and author,is among the leading names on Asian films and founder -President of NETPAC
(Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) founder-Director of Cinefan,Festival of Asian Cinema (now Osian’s-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema)and founder -Editor of Cinemaya, the asian film quarterly. Her tryst with cinema began as a student at the Newyork Film School. A doctorate from the University of Paris, on Censorship and Cinema, she has been activley promoting Asian films. Being & Becoming : The Cinemas of Asia and co-edior of Modernity and Nationality in Vietnamese Cinema by Ngo Phuong Lan (2007) are among the titles she has contributed Aruna Vasudev has been a jury member of prestigious film festivals across the globe and was honoured with the top cultural award of France, Chevalier Art et Letters by the French Government.
