Based on a true story in Southern Africa, 1880. A coloured woman living in the arid Karoo takes in a lost white child and raises him as her own. Nine years later, the boy is removed and forced to live in the Knysna Forest with a family of woodcutters who claim that he is theirs.

Director biography and filmography
Brett Michael Innes graduated from AFDA, the Oscar-winning South African film school, on a scholarship from the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF) of South Africa. His writing and directing debut, “Sink”, has been heralded by local critics as a ‘breakout film that sets a new standard for South African cinema’ and saw him win the SAFTA for Best Film and Best Screenplay. “Fiela se Kind” is his second feature and it had its International Premiere at Tallinn Black Nights where it played In Competition.
