Majid Majidi

Chairperson

Majid Majidi, the internationally acclaimed Iranian director debuted in 1992 and continues to make significant films like 'Children of Heaven' (1997), 'Colour of Paradise' (1999). Tehran born Majidi started acting in amateur theatre groups at the age of 14. Later, he studied at the institute of Dramatic Art. Post Islamic Revolution, he acted in a large number of films. His acclaimed body of work includes 'Mohammed-The Messenger of God' and 'Baran'.

Vetrimaaran

A renowned Tamil film director, writer and producer, Vetrimaaran made his debut with critically acclaimed film ‘Polladavan’. He started his career as an assistant director. His second feature film, 'Aadukalam', received 6 National Film Awards including the best director and screenplay awards. With four National Film Awards to his credit, Vetrimaarana’s movie 'Visaaranai' was selected as India's official entry to Academy Awards in 2016. His latest film 'Vada Chennai' is the first part of a proposed trilogy.

Adolfo Alix jr

Adolfo Alix jr. is a Filipino Screenwriter and film director, born in Makati City. He is known for the films 'Donsol', 'Kadin', 'Manila', and 'Arora'. His first film, 'Donsol' was a finalist in the 2006 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival where it won Best Actress and Best Cinematography honors. Since his debut as a director, he has become one of the promising young Filipino filmmakers with his other films screened at various international film festivals. He won Film Development Foundation Award (Screenwriting) and Palm Beach International Film Festival Best Screenplay). He served as the member of Busan International Film Festival in 2013 and the Shanghai International Film Festival in 2014.


Umesh Kulkarni

Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni is a renowned Marathi film director, born in Pune. He is known for the Marathi films 'Valu' (The Wild Bull), 'Vihir' (The Well), 'Deool' (The Temple) and 'Highway'. His film 'Deool' won the 59th National Film Awards for Best Feature Film. His notable short films won the National Film Award for the Best Non-feature film.

Sumathy Sivamohan

Sivamohan Sumathy is an award winning filmmaker, performer, dramatist, poet and academic. Born and brought up in the times of war and conflict, her work maps the tortous contours of dissent, violence, the power of women and marginal communities. Her three short films, 'Piralayam' ( Upheaval), 'Oranges and Sing', 'Mother', 'Sing', represent and explore individual and collective psyches of women in a time of war and conflict and have been shown at international venues, including the International Film Festival of the island of Groix, France. The debut feature 'Ingirunthu' ( Here and Now) an epic of the minority community of tea plantation workers has been shown at many international festivals.

Meghachandra Kongbam

A founding member of Manipur Film Journalists and Critics Association and a government employee for 37 years, Meghachandra Kongbam became a noted film writer with his articles published in The Hindu, the weekly NE Sun and the journal of the FFSI. Currently the President of Film Society of Manipur and a member of FIPRESCI-India, he received the Best Film Critic Award at the
National Film Awards 2015.

Meena Karnik

A journalist by profession and a film critic by passion, Meena Karnik has been a jury member and selection committee member for festivals like Asian film festival, Delhi Osians and Bengaluru International Film Festival. She is the co-editor of award winning Marathi magazine Akshar Diwali. She also wrote a book on photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha titled ‘Gautam’, and translated few books from English to Marathi.

Premchand P

Premchand is an active member of FIPRESCI since 2001 with a career in film journalism and activism in film society movement. Currently working as the Assistant Editor of the leading newspaper Mathrubhmi he was in charge of the film page of the daily and film magazine Chitrabhumi for a considerable period. He has compiled his film based articles and has three titles to his credit

Sunit Tandon

Chairperson

Currently the director of India Habitat Centre, Sunit Tandon is a renowned anchor who worked in Indian national television and radio. A theatre and western music critic, he was the former DG of IIMC, NFDC and Doordarshan. He was also the director of festivals for IFFI 2017, but was forced to leave.

Namrata Rao

A SRFTI graduate and an acclaimed film editor, Namrata Rao works mainly in Hindi cinema. She won the ‘Best Editing’ award at the National Film Award and at the Filmfare Awards for her work in Sujoy Ghosh directorial ‘Kahaani’. She is known for acting and editing in the highly regarded experimental film ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’ which also won her Filmfare award.

Sudhir Tandon

With over 41 years of experience in cinema and media, Sudhir Tandon is an Associate Director of The Inner Path Festival of Buddhist Art, Film & Philosophy, a curator for festivals and an evaluator of documentaries by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust. He served on the selection committees of IFFI and was among the juries of Indian Television News Awards. He is a recipient of Miller Award for the Best Social Action Programme. Magazine Docking as an editor in charge of film criticism.

Kumar Shahani

Chairperson

Kumar Shahani is a noted Indian film director and screenwriter best known for his films Maya Darpan (1972), Khayal Gatha (1989) and Kasba (1990). Maya Darpan, his debut feature film, is considered to be the first formalist film in Indian cinema.

Meenakshi Shedde

A journalist by profession, Meenakshi Shedde is a film writer, critic and been around for over 23 years in various facets of both Indian and world cinema as critic and jury member. Her career as a jury member involves The FIPRESCI International Critics’ Jury of the Cannes, Berlin and Venice Film Festivals, Asian Film Award Jury, Hong Kong Film Festival and the National Jury for the Indian Panorama of the IFFI. She is also a National Award winner for Best Film Critic in 1998.

C S Venkiteswaran

A film critic, associate professor, documentary filmmaker and writer, C S Venkiteswaran is a bilingual writer both in English and Malayalam, known for conceiving cinema both socially and artistically. A recipient of National Film Award for Best Film Critic, He published a book on filmmaker K R Mohanan titled ‘Samanthara Yathrakal – K R Mohanante Cinema’. He is the Artistic Director of the Signs film festival for short films and documentaries. He was also a jury member at the 60th National Film Awards.
