Riff-Raff

Dir: Ken Loach / United Kingdom / 95 mins

8_riff-raff_1Synopsis : Riff Raff follows Stevie, an ex-con from Scotland
who is struggling to start anew. He takes a job in a construction site in North London where they are converting a closed down hospital into luxury apartments. He has no place to live, and doesn’t make enough to rent a flat, so his co-workers happily appropriate a “squat” for him.
Soon after, he meets Susan, an aspiring singer with a lot of heart. Stevie falls for and moves in with Susan. But Susan’s drug habit and errant responsibilities at the building site lead Stevie into irrepressible life. A likable, unpretentious movie it is a significant slice of British working-class life, with warm hearted humour that is tempered by a definite warning edge of inflexible social consciousness.
