Amanda Nell Eu's Tiger Stripes, a Malaysian horror film released in 2023, is scheduled for a midnight screening on 13 December at Nishagandhi. The film intricately captures the essence of midnight stories infused with magical realism as it explores the life of Zaffan, an 11-year-old girl, and her journey through the challenges of approaching puberty while experiencing the complexities of small-town school life in the modern world.

Zaffan, whose once easy going life unfolded in a serene Malaysian hamlet, now finds herself enveloped in the tumultuous embrace of puberty, where her body undergoes alarming transformations. In a defiant act reminiscent of a harassed tiger revealing its true nature, Zaffan unveils her essence—fury, rage, and beauty.

The film's brilliance is evident in its cinematography, featuring breathtaking shots of Malaysia's rainforest, accompanied by an exceptional background score. This cinematic excellence reflects an international co-production involving eight countries, establishing its position as a captivating and unapologetic exploration of the cinematic art.

Notably, the film has garnered numerous awards at various film festivals, including the prestigious 2023 Critics' Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
