Chief Minister to inaugurate Closing Ceremony of 30th IFFK
As the 30th IFFK draws to a close, the spotlight shifts to the Nishagandhi Open Air Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram, where the festival’s closing ceremony will take place on December 19, 2025, at 6 pm. The evening, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and presided over by Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian, promises a celebration of cinematic excellence and enduring legacies.
The ceremony will pause to acknowledge cinematic legacies. Veteran filmmaker Saeed Mirza, currently Chairman of the Kottayam K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, will be honoured for his five decades of contribution to Indian cinema.
Global cinema will also find its moment on the Nishagandhi stage. Mauritanian auteur Abderrahmane Sissako, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this edition of IFFK, and jury chairperson Mohammed Rasool will be felicitated by the Chief Minister.
Awards that define the festival’s competitive spine will follow. The Suvarna Chakoram for the Best Film screened at the festival, along with the Audience Award, Theatre Award and Media Award, will be presented during the ceremony.
The event will witness a cross-section of Kerala’s political, cultural and cinematic leadership, including Ministers V Sivankutty, K N Balagopal and G R Anil; V K Prashanth MLA; Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman Dr Resul Pookutty; Culture Department Director Dr Divya S Iyer; KSCA Secretary C Ajoy; Vice Chairperson Cuckoo Parameswaran; KSFDC Chairman K Madhu; State Cultural Activists’ Welfare Fund Board Chairman Madhupal; and KSCA General Council Member Santosh Keezhattur.
By screening the Suvarna Chakoram award-winning film at the Nishagandhi Open Air Auditorium, the 30th IFFK will be brought to a reflective close
