Fernando Pérez Valdés, born in 1944, is a highly acclaimed Cuban film director. Graduating from the University of Havana in Language and Spanish Literature, Pérez entered the Cuban film industry in 1971, initially as an assistant director. He made his feature debut with the drama "Clandestinos" (1987) and gained international recognition with "Madagascar" (1994). Subsequent notable works include "La Vida es Silbar" (1998) and "Suite Habana" (2003), the latter considered one of the best Cuban films in decades. Pérez's cinematic journey continued with impactful films like "Madrigal" and the biopic "Marti: El ojo del Canario" (2010), which garnered awards on the film festival circuit. In recent years, he completed films such as "La Pared de las Palabras" (2014), "Ultimos Dias en la Habana" (2016), and "Insumisa" (2018), solidifying his legacy in the world of Cuban cinema.

Synopsis
This historical drama, depicting different phases in the late childhood and youth of the so-called “Apostle of Cuba” José Martí. Narrated in four movements, in the first two (“Bees” and “Arias”), the 9 year old Martí is bullied in school by schoolmates and abused by his schoolmaster.Details of Cast
