“IFFK is not just the pride of Thiruvananthapuram, but that of the entire world,” said Dr. Divya S. Iyer, Director, Department of Culture, Government of Kerala, while inaugurating the official opening of the Delegate Cell and the distribution of delegate kits for the 30th edition of IFFK at Tagore Theatre on 11 December 2025. 2024 Kerala State Film Award winner and actress Lijomol Jose received the first delegate kit from Dr. Divya S. Iyer.

“Films are like books. A book is incomplete until it reaches the reader’s heart, and every film is like that,” Dr. Iyer said. “When we watch a film together, each of us absorbs and experiences a different film. The fact that Malayalam cinema continues to create films that have the power to transform us is truly invaluable.” Actress Lijomol Jose also shared her memories of participating in IFFK as a delegate in 2013.

The event was presided over by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Vice Chairperson Cuckoo Parameswaran. Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Secretary C. Ajoy, KSFDC Chairman K. Madhu, Kerala Cultural Activists' Welfare Fund Board Chairman Madhupal, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy General Council Members B. Rakesh, G. S. Vijayan, Sudheer Karamana, and Delegate Committee Chairperson K. G. Mohan Kumar were among those present. General Council Member G. S. Vijayan delivered the vote of thanks.
The 30th edition of IFFK will officially open tomorrow with the screening of the film Palestine 36, marking the beginning of a weeklong celebration for cinephiles.
