'Each film restoration takes a lot of time and effort and is completed through a complex and costly process', said German filmmaker and the Jury Chairperson of the International Competition category Veit Helmer, 'In Conversation With' Prakash Magdum, former director of NFAI at the 27th IFFK. People usually forget about their films and go for another film, forgetting about restoration, he added.

He also urged the filmmakers to consider restoration of their films so that they could pass their films on to the next generation without losing its splendour. The primary challenge in the restoration is finding the original prints of particular films.

'Mahatma on Celluloid', book written by Prakash Magdum, was released at the programme by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
