An exhibition honouring the legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, organised as part of his birth centenary celebrations, was inaugurated by acclaimed Bengali director Gautam Ghosh at the Tagore Theatre premises. The venue serves as the main hub of the 30th IFFK, and the exhibition will remain open to visitors until the conclusion of the festival.

The exhibition showcases a curated collection of still photographs that highlight Ghatak’s profound influence on Indian cinema and his mastery in portraying complex human experiences. It features rare images from his iconic films, as well as photographs of the filmmaker himself, underscoring his enduring contribution to world cinema and his commitment to meaningful, socially resonant storytelling.

Jointly organised by the State Chalachitra Academy and the Information and Cultural Department, Government of West Bengal, the exhibition adds a significant cultural dimension to the festival. As part of the event, Gautam Ghosh also released a book on Ritwik Ghatak authored by C. S. Venkateswaran, which was formally presented to Beena Paul.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by KSCA Vice Chairperson Cuckoo Parameswaran, Secretary C. Ajoy, and Kerala Cultural Activists’ Welfare Fund Board Chairman Madhupal, among others.
