Marcos Loayza, born on November 29, 1959, in La Paz, Bolivia, is a distinguished Bolivian film director and screenwriter. He is celebrated for his contributions to Latin American cinema and is considered one of the prominent filmmakers in the region. oayza's directorial debut, "Cuestión de fe" (1995), received international acclaim and won several awards, including the Best First Feature at the Havana Film Festival. His other notable works include: "Escrito en el agua" (1998), "El corazón de Jesús" (2003), "Averno" (2018).
Young bootblack Tupah embarks on a frantic quest to find his uncle, Jacinto, lost in the Averno. In a dangerous journey through the underworld, myth and reality get endlessly intertwined and the death-loaded night in La Paz unveils the darkest and most surreal face of the imaginary of the Andes.
