Alessandro Pugno is an Italian director, photographer and poet, based in Spain and closely linked in his work to the Ibero-American world. Among his works we should highlight “In the shadow of the cross” (2013), a documentary about the singing children who still live today in Valle de los Caídos, former Mausoleum of Francisco Franco, which was selected in renowned festivals such as Mar del Plata, Guadalajara, Sao Paulo, Lima, Festival dei Popoli and Málaga, where it won the award for Best Documentary. Animal | Humano is his first fiction feature film.
In a small town in Italy, a boy, Matteo, lives surrounded by coffins and illness. Faced with this daily nonsense, he dreams of dying like a hero in the ring. Thousands of kilometers away, a calf, Fandango, grows up ignoring the purpose for which it was born: to become a fighting bull and fight to death in front of thousands of people.
