Mariya Saakyan was an Armenian-Russian film director, screenwriter, and editor, born on July 24, 1980, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union. She moved to Moscow with her family in 1993 and later graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in 2004. Saakyan is best known for her films "Farewell" (2004), "The Lighthouse" (2006), and "It's Not Me" (2012).
Lena returns to her home in a remote, war-ravaged Armenian village to try and persuade her grandparents to leave with her for safety in Moscow.
