T. V. Chandran

T. V. Chandran, born on November 23, 1950, in Thalassery, Kerala, India, is a distinguished Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor, predominantly working in Malayalam cinema. He began his career as an assistant director to P. A. Backer and made his acting debut in Backer's acclaimed political drama "Kabani Nadi Chuvannappol" (1975). Chandran made his directorial debut with the unreleased feature "Krishnan Kutty" (1981) and gained prominence with "Alicinte Anveshanam" (1989), which was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. His most famous film to date is "Ponthan Mada" (1993). He has won several prestigious awards, including six National Film Awards and ten Kerala State Film Awards. In 2023, he was honored with the J. C. Daniel Award, the highest award in Malayalam cinema.

Synopsis

Jayan, a schoolboy and son of a Congress MP, strikes up a relationship with Bhasi, a tailor and staunch supporter of the Communist Party. He soon begins to understand why Bhasi lives in constant fear.
