Director's bio

Quentin Tarantino

Born on March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Tarantino grew up in California and developed an early passion for movies that led him to work in video stores before breaking into filmmaking. His debut feature, Reservoir Dogs (1992), premiered at Sundance and immediately established him as a provocative new voice. He followed with the groundbreaking Pulp Fiction (1994), which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and revitalized independent cinema. Tarantino’s subsequent works include Jackie Brown (1997), the martial arts epics Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Volume 2 (2004), the grindhouse-inspired Death Proof (2007), the World War II revisionist saga Inglourious Basterds (2009), the slavery-era revenge tale Django Unchained (2012), the tense western chamber piece The Hateful Eight (2015), and the nostalgic Hollywood love letter Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
