Cyril Aris is a Lebanese filmmaker. He studied at Columbia University. His debut documentary The Swing (2018) won awards at Karlovy Vary. He directed shorts like Siham (2013) and The President’s Visit (2017). A Sad and Beautiful World (2025) is his first narrative feature.
Across three decades, Nino and Yasmina are bound by a magnetic relationship. Torn between love and survival, they must decide whether to build a family in Lebanon or leave amid the country’s tragedies. The film blends romance, comedy, and drama, reflecting Lebanon’s turbulent history.
