Miguel Gomes, born in 1972 in Lisbon, Portugal, is a prominent Portuguese film director, screenwriter, and editor. His directorial debut was "The Face You Deserve" (2004), followed by "Our Beloved Month of August" (2008), which gained critical acclaim. Gomes' 2012 film "Tabu" was a significant success, winning the Alfred Bauer Prize for Artistic Innovation and the FIPRESCI Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. His 2015 film "Arabian Nights" premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2024, Gomes directed "Grand Tour," which won him the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival.
