Vinko Tomičić, born in 1987 in Coquimbo, Chile, is a talented filmmaker known for his work as a director, writer, and producer. He studied Sound and Image Design at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Tomičić's first short film, "Durmiente" (2014), was selected for various international film festivals, including Ficunam, Guadalajara, Cali, Sao Paulo, and Vancouver. In 2014, he founded the production company Calamar Cine, which produced his debut feature film "El Fumigador" (2016). The film won several awards, including Best Film at the International Festival of Santiago de Chile and Best International Film at BioBioCine and FADU Biennial, UBA. His latest feature, "The Dog Thief" (2024), premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and received critical acclaim.
Martín, an orphan who works as a shoeshine boy, lives a life of solitude and longing. Driven by a deep emotional need for connection, he decides to steal the dog of his best client, a lonely tailor whom he has begun to imagine as the father he never had.
