Walter Salles was born on April 12, 1956, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Director of documentaries and films of fiction, Salles' work revolves around the themes of traveling and search of identity. He shot into international fame with the 1998 film Central Station, which won the Golden Bear. His filmography includes Motorcycle Diaries.

Synopsis

In the early 1970s, the military dictatorship in Brazil reaches its height. The Paiva Family - Rubens, Eunice, and their five children - live in a beachside house in Rio, open to all their friends. One day, Rubens is taken for questioning and does not return.
