Semih Kaplanoğlu, born in İzmir in 1963, is an acclaimed Turkish director, writer, and producer. His minimalist, spiritual cinema often meditates on faith, memory, and ritual. He is best known for the “Yusuf Trilogy” — Egg (2007), Milk (2008), and Honey (2010, Golden Bear Berlin) — as well as Angel’s Fall (2005) and Grain (2017).
