Carlos Gaviria, born in Bogotá in 1956, is a Colombian filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor. His work often addresses trauma, displacement, and memory. Portraits in a Sea of Lies (2010) won awards at Viña del Mar and Guadalajara, while his later projects such as Carta a una sombra (2015) continued to explore Colombia’s social scars.
