Mariana Rondón, born on May 8, 1966, in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, is a renowned Venezuelan film director, screenwriter, producer, and visual artist. She studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in Cuba and later pursued animation studies in France. In 1990, she co-founded the Andean Multinational Company "Sudaca Films" with other Latin American filmmakers. Rondón's notable works include "Calle 22" (1994), "A la medianoche y media" (1999), "Postales de Leningrado" (2007), and "Pelo Malo" (2013). Her film "Pelo Malo" won the Golden Shell award at the 61st San Sebastian Film Festival2. Rondón's films often explore themes of identity, family, and social issues, and she has received numerous awards for her contributions to cinema.
