In 1848, as the Habsburg Empire oppressed Eastern Europe, poet Petőfi Sándor led a revolution for Hungary’s independence, rallying the masses with his “National Song.” But Austrian secret police sent a Hungarian turncoat, Farkasch, to crush the uprising and eliminate Petőfi, igniting a deadly cat-and-mouse game.
