Ishaan Ghose, Ishaan Ghose
Ishaan Ghose is a musician and a photographer, who took up a career in filmmaking few years back as a cinematographer. He has worked in the Indian film industry as an assistant cinematographer and a cinematographer for 14 years, shooting, documentaries, feature and advertising films. Has worked in Indian national award winning film Shankhachil (2016) and Raahgir (2019), both directed by Goutam Ghose. Discards(Jhilli) is his first feature which premiered at the Torino international film festival, it won the Golden Royal Bengal tiger award for best film at the Kolkata International film festival in 2022, it received a special mention at the Mammoth lakes film festival, it also received national film awards for Best sound design and special mention for the lead actors. His second feature film “Morichika” world premiered at the Rotterdam international film festival in 2025.
Synopsis
An interlinked journey revolving around two young dreamers in the heart of Kolkata. Kishan, a 23-year-old boy from Bihar, hops in a train and arrives in Kolkata, hoping to get a job and a better life. Reality hits hard and he faces many obstacles to find his way for survival. As we begin the journey with him, Kishan learns the way of life and slowly accomplishes his dreams. Priya, a 20-year-old girl, faces many challenges, as she navigates her life with a new born baby.
