Milko Lazarov graduated at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he studied Film and TV direction in the class of Prof. Vladislav Ikonomov. He used to be a lecturer in NATFA’s film department „Experimental filmmaking and inscenation”. He directed TV campaigns for The Bulgarian National Television “THE GREAT BULGARIANS” and “THE BIG READ”. His first feature “ALIENATION” premiered in the Official selection of Venice Days, VENICE’70 and won two awards there: Special mention from Europa Cinemas Label and Best young di- rector from FEDEORA. His second feature “ÁGA” (2018) premiered in the Main competi- tion of Berlinale International Film Festival. The movie received more than 40 awards around the world including: Grand Prix for Best Movie at FAJR IFF, Heart of Sarajevo for Best Movie at SARA- JEVO IFF, Award for Best Director 1-2 and Green Spike Award at SEMINCI IFF, VALLADOLID, Special Jury Prize at MALATYA IFF, TUR- KEY, Special Jury Award at GOA IFF, INDIA, Shadi Abdel Salam for Best Film at International Film Critics’ Week at CAIRO IFF. Milko Lazarov is the president of The Bulgarian Union of Film- makers.
Tarika lives with her father and her grandmother in a small hut near the border, far away from the local village. Marked by her ‘butterfly wings,’ a rare bone condition she inherited from her mother, the girl has been the source of the community’s superstition forever. When the local cattle are struck down by a mysterious disease, fear starts spreading among the villagers.
