Phedon Papamichael, born in February 1962 in Athens, Greece, is a renowned Greek cinematographer and film director. He moved with his family to Munich, Germany, where he completed his education in Fine Arts in 1982. Papamichael began his career as a photojournalist in New York before transitioning to cinematography. His first short film, "Spud," earned him the Award for Best Cinematography at the Cork Film Festival in Ireland. Papamichael has worked on over 45 feature films as a Director of Photography, including "While You Were Sleeping," "Cool Runnings," "Phenomenon," "Sideways," "Walk the Line," and "Nebraska." He has collaborated with notable directors such as James Mangold, Alexander Payne, and Wim Wenders. Papamichael has been nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography and the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography.
