Josué Méndez

Josué Méndez, born in Lima in 1976, is a Peruvian filmmaker whose work examines alienation, trauma, and class tensions. His debut Days of Santiago (2004) gained international acclaim for its raw portrayal of a soldier’s struggle with PTSD. He followed with Dioses (2008) and has also produced contemporary Peruvian features, establishing himself as a key figure in Latin American cinema.

Synopsis

A 23-year-old Peruvian ex-soldier returns to Lima, struggling with PTSD and disillusionment. His attempts to study and work clash with the city’s chaos, pushing him toward crime and alienation as he battles depression and fractured identity
