Lucía Puenzo, born in Buenos Aires in 1976, is both a novelist and filmmaker whose works probe gender, ethics, and power. Her debut XXY (2007) won the Cannes Critics’ Week Grand Prize and established her as a daring voice in Argentine cinema. She went on to direct The Fish Child (2009), The German Doctor (2013), and The Silence of the Sky (2016), while also publishing acclaimed novels.
